Venous ultrasonography is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to visualize veins located deep within the leg. There is no radiation involved with ultrasonography. This test is used to determine the size and function of the veins. Ultrasonography is obtained at the initial consultation visit to determine what procedure is best for each individual patient. It is also performed after procedures to ensure proper closure of the treated veins.
